October 10th, 2015 – January 10th, 2016
Museum MAXXI, via Guido Reni 4A, Rome

Barka is a boat made of hundreds of shoes positioned in MAXXI’s hall. The work reflects on migration and on the situations of conflict of the present era. Barka, on an extended loan to MAXXI from Nomas Foundation, Rome, was made by the artist in 2011, a year of migratory emergency in Lampedusa. The work highlights the museum’s interests towards the urgencies of our time, as those of immigration and shelter.
