On the occasion of the Giornata del Contemporaneo, Nomas Foundation hosts the launch of Marcella Vanzo's book Rumors. Voci.
The publication is the written version of the artist’s work Rumors. Live., a performance shaped by the space it occupies, which de-construct the representation, reducing it to its minimal terms: plot, voice, scene and body.
An outrageous version of Medea, Rumors portrays a mythological woman drawn by memories and gossip nourished by her entourage, composed of shameless courtiers and stereotypical characters. The texts for nine off-stage voices - among them, those of Filippo Timi, Arianna Scommegna, Steve Piccolo and Paolo Maria Noseda – are written by Marcella Vanzo, and are integrally collected in the book Rumors. Voci., published by MOOR Editions, both in Italian and in English.

During the presentation, the actor Alessandro Riceci – already one of the main characters of the version of Rumors, at Teatro Valle Occupato (2013) – will perform some extracts from the book. The video version of Rumors, recorded at the Grand Hotel Miramare, at Santa Margherita Ligure, will also be screened.
In 2013 the performance Rumors was included in Nomas Foundation's project A Theatre Cycle, realized in collaboration with Teatro Valle Occupato and curated by Cecilia Canziani and Ilaria Gianni.

Educated both as an anthropologist as an artist, Marcella Vanzo lives and works in Milan. Through video, performance, photography and installation she enquires the different dimensions of the human being, from the social one, to the mythical one, from the emotional one to the political one. In her work reality and fiction are blurred, questioning the representation of reality.
Vanzo exhibits regularly in solo and group shows in Italy and abroad. Recently: Jakarta Biennial, 2017; Manifesta 11, ZĂ¼rich, 2016; Nel Mezzo del Mezzo, Palazzo Riso, 2015; Perspectif cinema, Centre Pompidou, 2015. She won the New York Prize and the Acacia Prize for emerging artists.
